Fiscal Responsibility in 2012
by
Shelton Noe
Fiscal responsibility isn\’t taken seriously today in 2012. When I say fiscal responsibility, I mean financial individual responsibility. However, because of the economy that we live in 2012 \”economic liberty\” I think people are re-thinking about the way that they spend money. Economic liberty means taking fiscal responsibility. People in 2012 may think more about educational choice, individual responsibility, and fiscal responsibility when it comes to creating economic liberty. Cause let\’s face it, being weighed down with debt is not economic liberty and not fiscal responsibility.
Fiscal responsibility should not include using credit cards for shopping sprees and having the house of your dreams before you can afford it. Fiscal responsibility is all about keeping it sharp–spending less than you make. Fiscal responsibility is about planning sharp and evaluating sharp priorities and making sharp decisions based on individual responsibility and making a sharp budget that requires you to follow through with individual responsibility and accountability. Fiscal responsibility means being accountable for your spending and the individual responsibility and discipline it takes to stick to a sharp budget and spend less than you earn. In a search for fiscal responsibility in someone or some organization in 2012 may be quite impossible or must be a sharp, focused search. Even State sovereignty and limited government(s) all over the world are spending more money than they have, which is not fiscal responsibility. Sometimes fiscal responsibility means that you can\’t please everyone at the same time and that you have to choose what things will have to wait, even if others think the individual responsibility of the waiting is on you. It used to be that when buying a house, the fiscal responsibility thing to do was to gradually decorate and furnish the house as the years went by, spending less than you earn was the norm. But, today with the credit card age, everyone wants everything all at once and they can have it all at once too by buying on credit. But buying on credit is not always acting with fiscal responsibility. In fact, delaying your purchase until you can purchase it with your own hard-earned money builds character. In short, if you buy a house the fiscal responsibility way would be to gradually furnish and decorate the house as you have the funds to do so, rather than buying on credit and paying it back later. Acting with fiscal responsibility builds character, but it also creates more security and stability. Fiscal responsibility can\’t always pay for everything in cash. Educational choice for example can be very expensive and taking out a student loan may be necessary for the educational choice. However, acting in fiscal responsibility would save up for educational choice studies and take out as little student loan money as possible. Fiscal responsibility coupled with educational choice studies and expenses may mean that a student has to work while studying, but the less student loan money you have to pay off when you\’re actually out of that educational choice degree, the more you\’ll thank yourself for your hard work and your fiscal responsibility during your educational choice study years. Fiscal responsibility is scarce today because of the buying on credit mentality. The buy on credit mentality is that you will borrow today and pay later, but tomorrow there\’s always going to be something you want that you want to borrow for and then the vicious cycle continues until you\’re always borrowing and you run out of borrowing power. I\’ll say it again, fiscal responsibility requires discipline and individual responsibility for accountability to fiscal responsibility budgets.
